My car wasn't fixed until about 2:30 on Monday, it turned out to be a simple little plastic clip that cost about $4.00 for a package of 3-4. The clip went into the tube that connected to the fuel filter. The labor cost $40.00. I was so happy to have it fixed I didn't even stress over the labor.
So... Murphy wasn't done with me yet though. Since I was stuck at home I decided to make a Hummingbird cake, surely I could make one that was worth $5.00 a slice. I got the cake made and baked and was starting on the frosting when..... my mixer littlerly blew up in my hands. I had just plugged it in and was attempting to attach the beaters when it happened. I think if I had the beaters already attached and into the wet liquids in the bowl when I plugged it in there would have been a much bigger mess to clean up. But... again Curley and Pete were right there at my elbow. Thanks again guys!!!!! A mixer only cost $10.00 at walmart but since I live 5 miles from walmart and don't have any roller skates I had to use that antique tool , the arm muscle attached to a wooden spoon to make my frosting. The cake was light and fluffy with cream cheese icing and oh sooooo good. It was so good in fact that I took half of it to my neighbors or I would have eaten more than I should have. Greg loved it too so I saved him a few pieces. He isn't much for sweets but he said he would help me finish off the cake before it spoiled.

Woo Hoo!!!! A YUMMY Hummingbird cake! I'm glad to know that they really do taste good.

I'm happy that your car is fixed and it didn't cost you an arm and a leg! I think they should have fixed it for free, after all this time, but glad you got 'wheels' now!

So, Hummingbird cakes do really taste good? Not so bad and heavy that a person only eats it because they paid $5.00 for it, a slice, that is? WOW! Wish I were they to try it out. Maybe you need to let them taste an honest to goodness good cake. Lets see, at $5.00 a slice, say maybe 12 slices, hey, that should be a mighty good tastin cake.
